We are delighted to welcome members of the 2CVGB of Great Britain an organisation made up of local groups of Citreon car owners. C.A.R.S - The Crazy Association of Roadworthy Snails is based in North West Kent and South East London. They hold monthly meetings at The Red Lion at Luddesdown, in the Gravesham District of Kent and have been in existence for over 28 years.
Throughout the year they attend 2CV and Citroen Classic Car Events in the UK and overseas as well as local fetes and classic car shows. 2CVGB is a broad church and every two years hold a World Meeting that can attract over 60,000 people. A National Meeting is held in different parts of the UK every year which local groups organise.
C.A.R.S has participated in both National and World Meetings in France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Italy and Croatia. Members visit Australia regularly and have attended 2CV events - known as Raids. Driving across the Australian outback in a 2CV is something you would never forget!
A well quoted sentence is "It's not a car it is a way of life." Wherever they park someone will say " I used to have one of these " or “my dad used to have one of these". The thing is whenever they get in their cars it makes them smile.
Riverside Players are proud to present their next show, The Sound of Music. This will be an outdoor extravaganza, set in the beautiful ruins of Eynsford Castle in Kent.
“The Sound of Music,” a beloved musical, is based on the true story of the Von Trapp Family Singers. Set in Austria during the eve of the Anschluss in 1938, it follows young postulant Maria Rainer. Maria, with her free spirit, struggles to conform to the rules of Nonnberg Abbey. Commissioned as the governess for seven motherless children, she transforms their home into a place of joy, laughter, and music. Amidst the horrors of World War II, Maria’s journey leads her to love, family, and hope.
Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” Unfolds amids the enchanting setting of the Forest of Arden, where exiled nobles seek refuge. Rosalind, disguised as a man, navigates love’s complexities with her beloved Orlando. Through witty banter and mistaken identities, the play explores themes of love, gender and the pursuit of happiness, culminating in a joyful celebration of nature and romance.
